Buns and Corners

As human as they come.

You, the silent threat

You, who came at a time nations scoped for fragility in the other.

You, who set foot as our species did the unspeakable unto itself.

You, who also came to witness the dirt in the hamper hidden behind the triumphs we erected.

You, who came to the exit of the royals and some excellent examples of violation of fundamental human rights.

You, who came, like in the movies, through billowing mists and clouds

Only the ones here, unlike in the movies were that which corrodes our insides.

You, who came when beautiful people sashayed down the ramps in the most exquisite of fabrics,

Designed by sweatshops that let their workers slave their fingers bloody, given enough to barely survive.

You, who came to a world already ravaged by your cousins but mostly just ravaged by ourselves.

To watch us flail around helplessly.

Us, who drink away our guilt, every Friday night, at our share of the dirt in the hamper.

You, who we don’t see, the invisible threat.

You, who never boasted of mushroom clouds or severed limbs.

You, who we know not who created, that is silently sneaking into our homes and corroding our insides

You, so small, has forced us into hiding and some left with none,

but to let you find them cowering behind flimsy masks

You, who forced us to look at ourselves and see the degenerates that we have become.

You, the silent threat that came swiftly and effectively to change the way we operate.
